maxresdefault (1).jpg There are multiple ways to record and upload videos to your Canvas course. However, we like using Screencast-o-Matic for recording because it's free and easy to use. And we like using YouTube to upload the videos because it has technology that automatically adds closed captioning to all its videos, making them more accessible to those with - or without - disabilities.

Here's how to make a recording in Screencast-o-Matic:

Head to screencast-o-matic.com and click the big, blue Start Recording button
Then click the green, Launch Recorder button
1. You may be prompted to open or allow the Screen Recorder Launcher. If so, it's safe to go ahead and open it.
2. You'll then need to download the Launcher and run the installer (don't worry - you should only have to do this the first time you use it).
Once the Launch Recorder opens, you can hit the red Record button and you'll start recording!
When you're done recording, hit Pause and then Done.

Here's how to upload your Screencast-o-matic video to YouTube:

After you've finished recording and hit Done, you'll see options to Save as Video File or Upload to YouTube. Click on Upload to YouTube.
1. If you're not already signed into Google, you may have to before being able to upload to YouTube
Options will appear for how to publish your YouTube video
1. Be sure to give your recording a descriptive title
2. Select "Unlisted" for the Privacy setting - this will make your video only available to those who have the link and won't be searchable on the internet
Once you have your recording on YouTube, just copy and paste the link wherever you want in Canvas - it will automatically open a player in the Canvas page once you save and view it!
